FOILING FIRST
Foiling First is a breakthrough American development program – spearheaded by the United States SailGP Team as part of SailGP’s #RacefortheFuture – using foiling as a catalyst to change our sport. As we aim to create a pathway for foiling athletes, first we need to prioritize diversity and inclusion in sailing.
To help create accessible programming, Melges has partnered with the U.S. SailGP Team using the Skeeta and Nikki foiling platforms which are designed to allow new athletes an easy transition between traditional sailing and foiling. Melges will demo these boats as the preferred platform at Foiling First Learn to Foil Camps.
Melges is proud to be the North American dealer for the Skeeta and Nikki. For more information on purchasing a boat, email sales@melges.com.

SKEETA
Skeeta is the latest foiling dinghy that incorporates all-around performance. Sailors are no longer left waiting for a breeze to go sailing. The Skeeta is fun and capable of sailing in all safe wind ranges. It is more stable than narrow skiffs and can be sailed without hydrofoils, making it more versatile as an all-purpose dinghy. The hull is simple, robust, unsinkable, and quick to rig.
Skeeta is suited to sailors of all levels: from beginners to professionals. Add the foils and it is a highly-developed, but forgiving, foiling machine with amazing performance.
NIKKI
Nikki is a brand new dinghy designed and built for kids and lighter sailors.
Nikki is a fully open, modern scow designed for learning to sail and fun, competitive sailing. It’s capable of planing upwind, bringing a whole new level of fun to youth sailing – a new thrill to captivate and entrench young sailors into the sport for life!
A two-day introduction to foiling for sailing organizations to try foiling with the support of coaches and pros onboard the Skeeta and Nikki. Applications for sailing organizations looking to take part in Foiling First programming will be available on foilingfirst.com.
Led by two-time America’s Cup champion Jimmy Spithill, the United States SailGP Team represents the U.S. in the global grand prix racing circuit – SailGP.
