Melges and Quantum Sails Zenda Team Member Eddie Cox won the 2021 MC Train Wreck Regatta held January 29-31 in Eustis, FL. The second event of the Quantum Sails Triple Crown Series broke records from recent years with 56 boats racing.

The MC event marked a highly successful weekend for Quantum Sails topping the leaderboard and with a dozen new Powerzone Mainsails delivered to competitors. Cox won the event with 11 points while fellow Melges Team Member, Andy Burdick, won the Masters Division placing third overall with 16 points.

Light air canceled the first day of the event and nearly cut the second day short. Pressure filled in for an on-time start on Saturday and blew itself out quickly after one race. The fleet headed back to the dock anticipating breeze later in the day. The Race Committee was able to squeeze in Race Two just before the sun set over the lake. It looked as if the weekend would close out with a third day of light air, but the wind filled in for an exhilarating two races in a puffy 15 knots.

The Quantum Sails Triple Crown Series on Lake Eustis comes to a close with the Midwinter Championship March 11-13. Competitors wishing to tune up for the Midwinters are invited to Zenda University, hosted by Melges and Quantum Sails, March 9-10. To learn more, email sales@melges.com.
