Miami Melges 20 Mix — Team NIKA on top! Worlds is next!

MIAMI, Fla. (March 17, 2019) – A building fleet of seventeen Melges 20s have completed a tight weekend of racing at the Melges Rocks Regatta hosted by Coconut Grove Sailing Club.

The racing was tight with five different race winners over the event’s six races. It was clear that the speed of the top boats is more even than ever; race success is defined by starting, racing skills and small details of the Melges 20. With a mix of conditions throughout the weekend, the podium was wide open until the final race.

Vladimir Prosikhin’s NIKA finished first, Igor Rytov’s RUSSIAN BOGATYRS second, and Daniel Thielman’s KUAI completed the podium. “Racing in Miami is the best sailing anyone could ask for,” said Prosikhin. How can you argue with that?

The 2018-2019 Melges 20 Miami Winter Series comes to a close at the upcoming 2019 Melges 20 World Championship in Miami, April 4-7. Sailors are hungry to add Melges World League points throughout the season in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Melges 20 owners have agreed to begin planning the 2019-2020 Miami Winter Series and the 2021 World Championship in North America. The future is bright for the Melges 20!
