The new Quantum Sails Powerzone Mainsail won the MC Southeast Regional Championship in Eustis, FL. Eddie Cox from Zenda, WI worked his way to the top of the leaderboard after winning two races and totaling just 12 points in the six-race series. The regatta was the perfect debut for the new Powerzone main with winds ranging from 3-12 knots through the two days of racing.
“I had great acceleration off the line and was really fast in the light conditions – something we race in so often”, said Cox. The new sails feature improvements to enhance downwind speed, which could be seen at the event.
The SER kicked off the Quantum Sails Triple Crown Series with nearly 40 boats registered – a new attendance record for the event. Melges/Quantum Sails Zenda team members Eddie Cox, Ted Keller, and Andy Burdick were onsite competing and assisting other sailors throughout the weekend.
“The MC Class is important to Melges and an integral part of our new relationship with Quantum Sails,” said Andy Burdick, President of Melges. “We want to thank everyone for making the effort to attend the championship and we look forward to seeing the group at the next two regattas.”
The results of the new Quantum Sails are exciting for our loyal customers who have already signed on for a new MC main over the Fall. More than 90 new Quantum MC Powerzones are on order with many more entering fleets around the country.
