Daniel Thielman’s Kuai (San Francisco, CA) won the third and final event of the 2019/20 Melges 20 Winter Series in Miami, FL. The three-day event closed out the fleet’s season in the south squeezing in some sailing at the end of the spring season.
Thielman remained consistent finishing in the top two in all except one race. “We started working the boat way harder downwind,” said Thielman. “Putting the upwind and downwind together was the key to victory.”
While Thielman won the final event, it was Igor Rytov’s Russian Bogatyrs that won the Winter Series overall. A big thank you to Coconut Grove Sailing Club for hosting the Melges 20 Class!
