Melges Performance Sailboats is excited to announce that Vela LA has joined its network of dealers. Situated conveniently in Los Angeles, CA and catering to California, Vela LA now offers sales of the Melges 15, Melges 14, Skeeta, and Nikki.
Tim Clarke, with his extensive sailing experience ranging from Optis in his youth to J24s, Farr 40s and 49ers, has become an integral part of the local sailing community. Since relocating from England to Los Angeles, Clarke has been actively involved in the California Yacht Club, various racing campaigns, and the ILCA class.
Since 2014, Vela LA has provided dinghies and coach boats for sale and charter, with Clarke taking ownership in 2019.
“High-performance dinghies are our passion at Vela LA and being able to partner with Melges is an ideal situation. The versatility of the boats really lends themselves to the excellent sailing conditions we have in California,” said Clarke.
“We’re very excited to be the West Coast Demo Center for Melges. Being able to give our customers the opportunity to experience how fun these boats are to sail is going to be fantastic.”
The Melges 15 has been experiencing remarkable growth in the area, particularly in the vibrant hub of Long Beach. Vela LA will be offering local demos of Melges boats in Southern California for individuals looking to test sail the boats prior to purchase. For those looking to start foiling, the Skeeta and Nikki will also be available.
